What is the difference between Space-A, High Demand, Short Stays and Resort Vacation Certificates (RVCs)?

Space-A, also known as Space Available, is excess inventory that is set at a special price of $349.00* USD per week. Space-A is comprised of inventory that is unlikely to be used due to a high supply or low demand, or both. So rather than potentially let this excess inventory go unused, we provide it at an attractive discount to those who have or are currently protecting our country.

High-Demand represents a broader range of resort availability, including holidays, larger units and more sought-after destinations.

Short Stays, where available, are short stays (usually less than 7 nights).

Resort Vacation Certificates (RVCs) are travel certificates, which are redeemable for a 7-night stay at one of our affiliated resorts. RVC inventory is designed to be used for off-peak/offseason travel, although accommodations may be available throughout the year.  Peak seasons can vary according to destination.

I am looking for a vacation rental at a specific location and/or time and can’t find it. Can you help me?

If you cannot find a vacation rental at your desired location and date, then it is likely unavailable at the time of the search. However, as the website is updated throughout the day, please check back to see if your desired date and location becomes available. We also invite you to set up a My Vacation Watcher search, and our handy tool will search for your specific location and date and notify you when it becomes available. Click here to learn more.

Previously, on the 'Search All Resorts' tab I was able to search by resort name or resort id, but it is no longer there. Where did the resort search go?

It is now within the search - simply click 'Resorts' and then begin to type in the name of the resort or part of the name of the resort, and you will see one or several matches. Also for the resort id, simply type in the resort id and the corresponding resort name will also populate.

Do I have to stay all 7 nights?

While Space-A or High Demand vacations are comprised of one-week, seven-night increments, you don't have to stay seven nights. You can choose to check in a few days late or check out a few days early, depending on your preference. Simply contact the resort ahead of time to make the proper arrangements. At $349* USD per week, if you choose to stay only 4, 5, or 6 nights it can still be considered a fantastic deal!

Do the resorts accommodate special needs?

In the event you require any special needs during your reservation, please contact us at 1-800-724-9988 prior to booking. We will contact resorts in your preferred destination and identify any resorts which can accommodate you.

Can I take non-eligible travel companions?

Yes. As long as you are an eligible AFVC member, at least 21 years of age, and the reservation is in your name, your companions may accompany you provided that you do not exceed the maximum occupancy allowed for your reservation. Depending upon the resort, you may even be permitted to book multiple units at the same time and location so long as you are also traveling.

Am I eligible to participate in the AFVC program?

To be eligible to participate, you must meet one of the following conditions:

  • Current or former Member of the Uniformed Services or an adult dependent (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy; active duty and both active and inactive reserve and National Guard)
  • Foreign exchange service member on permanent duty with the Department of Defense
  • Retired Member of the Uniformed Services or an adult dependent (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy)
  • Civilian employee of the DoD (appropriated, non-appropriated, or retired) or an adult dependent
  • American Red Cross personnel serving overseas with the U.S. military DoD Dependent School teacher or an adult dependent

Do you offer all-inclusive resorts?

Yes, we do. To see a list of all-inclusive resorts click here.

How far in advance do I have to make a reservation to ensure there is availability?

Units may become available anywhere from 3 to 360 days in advance of the scheduled check-in date. As soon as they become available, they can be reserved. Once a reservation is made, the unit is removed from the available inventory pool and that unit is reserved for your use. Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis, so a location may be available in the morning, but gone by afternoon. If all available units have been reserved, please contact a Vacation Guide who will assist you with finding an alternative location or available date.

What is your cancellation policy?

Space-A Cancellation:

  • If a booking is cancelled 61 days or more prior to the scheduled check-in date, you will be charged a cancellation fee equal to 30% of the total reservation subtotal.
  • If a booking is cancelled between 15 and 60 days prior to the scheduled check-in date, you will be charged a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the reservation subtotal.
  • If a booking is cancelled 14 days or less before the scheduled check-in date, there will be no refund made.

High Demand Inventory and Short Stays:

  • If a booking is cancelled 61 days or more prior to the scheduled check-in date, we will refund one hundred percent (100%) of the reservation grand total.
  • If a booking is cancelled between 15 and 60 days prior to the scheduled check-in date, you will be charged a cancellation fee equal to 25% of the reservation subtotal.
  • If a booking is cancelled 14 days or less before the scheduled check-in date, there will be no refund made.

Resort Vacation Certificate (RVC):

  • All sales of RVC reservations are final, non-cancelable and non-refundable.

Are there any exceptions to the cancellation policy (such as a military contingency)?

Military Contingency

In the event of a military contingency, you may be eligible for a full refund of your reservation fee.

Requests for cancellations due to military contingency should be submitted as soon as possible, but MUST be received no later than three (3) business days prior to the scheduled check-in date.

To cancel a Space-A reservation due to a military contingency, you must submit proper notification of the contingency, including your name, confirmation number, the check-in date, and the nature of the military contingency. A general description such as "reserve unit activation," "overseas deployment," "delayed return from deployment," or "leave involuntarily cancelled due to military requirements" is sufficient. Please do not send mission-specific, operational details or any other information which may be considered sensitive or confidential to the military. The notification should be from the unit commander or the first field grade officer (or GS equivalent) in your chain of command stating that your leave was involuntarily cancelled due to military requirements. Please fax this notification to 317-805-9335, or mail to:
