Denver is one of Colorado’s most modern cities, known as the “Mile-High City” since it is exactly one mile above sea level, and is noted especially for the diversity and friendliness of the locals. Peak tourist season is between March and July because it offers the most events and most temperate weather. The Denver area has so much to offer its visitors, both downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods. Each neighborhood is unique and offers a different experience depending on which ones you choose to visit:

  • River North Art District (RiNo): art galleries, craft breweries, restaurants, and street art on every corner
  • Cherry Creek: shopping neighborhood featuring both big-name brands and locally-owned boutiques
  • Highlands: Victorian-era homes, restaurants, gardens and art galleries
  • The Art District on Santa Fe: more than 60 art galleries, mostly in tribute to area’s Hispanic roots
  • Uptown: several cafés, bistros, and pubs with outdoor seating available
  • City Park: most popular attractions such as the Denver Zoo and Museum of Nature and Science
  • Five Points: jazz clubs, coffeehouses, breweries, and museums

Downtown Denver also offers visitors a central location for access to the airport, hotels, and ski resorts. There are also a lot of great dining options that truly make the city a “foodie’s paradise.” The city is home to several food halls that house several casual dining concepts on a constant rotation throughout the year. Central Market is another hub for great eats, offering nearly a dozen eateries serving a variety of cuisines. Beer-enthusiasts will enjoy trying out the numerous craft breweries around town as well.

It is best to get around by walking, biking (use the Denver B-cycle – the city’s bike share program), or the 16th Street Mall shuttle downtown.
